She is Arya, she's just being stubborn about it.

She's always stubborn. That's how I know she is still Arya. But she helped me with my legs--and she forgets to be nameless, sometimes. I can tell. If Nymeria were here, maybe it would help her to remember, the way Lady helps Sansa.

[She called me a bastard, he thinks.

He pets Summer's side again]

It's not remembering she needs, Bran.

[wolfdreamer]

Then what does she need?

[wolfinthesnow]

She needs to stop acting as though Arya is dead.

[wolfdreamer]

But she can't unless she remembers who she is. She knows she isn't dead, but she's forgotten--and she needs our help to remember.

[He pushes his fingers through Summer's fur again and says, quietly:] She lost her wolf.

Is that it?

[wolfdreamer]

[Maybe, he might say. I think that it does. But it is more than thinking now. So he looks straight at Jon and answers true.]

Yes. So we must help them.

[wolfinthesnow]

They do not want my help, Bran.

[wolfdreamer]

They do. People can want help without saying it, or without even knowing it.

[wolfinthesnow]

Bran, they may want yours, but they don't want mine.

[Jon knows that for sure. He's been told as much.]

[wolfdreamer]

[Perhaps it admits too much to say this--perhaps it is something a lord would not say, or a man older than Bran--but Jon is his brother, and so he looks at him.]

I want your help.

[wolfinthesnow]

[Jon pauses, because he knows where this will lead, but he loves Bran, truly, and he cannot tell him no. It is not that Bran is a cripple.

It is that he is his brother.]

Yes, of course.

[wolfdreamer]

[He leans forward a little, eager to have all of this said.]

Then if you are helping me, and I am helping them-- We won't tell them. But you can help them too, just in secret.

[wolfinthesnow]

I'll do anything you like, Bran.

[wolfdreamer]

[He searches his brother's face--and then gives him a careful smile in answer.]

I know. And I would help you, too. I think--we need to be as we were. We need to be a pack. But it will not be easy to do.

[wolfinthesnow]

Nothing is.

[wolfdreamer]

[Well, that's true enough. Bran nods, dropping his gaze back to Summer again.]

And will you try warging for true? If it is something that you can do, too... you should at least try.

[wolfinthesnow]

Tell me how and I will try.

[wolfdreamer]

[Carefully, he twines his fingers through Summer's fur, and thinks a moment like that.]

If Ghost is not in the room with you--could you find him?

[wolfinthesnow]

I've never tried.

[wolfdreamer]

But you could imagine. It is like that--like Ghost is in the next room. And if you remember how it feels to have the wolf dream--the way it feels--then you only have to reach for him, but in your mind, and you will find him.

It is easier to do it, then to explain.

[wolfinthesnow]

Then I will try and do it.

[wolfdreamer]

[He smiles a little, pleased by Jon's agreement.]

You must tell me if you find success. And I think I will ask Robb of wolf dreams as well. [Robb--the thought of their brother interrupts him with something else he wanted to tell Jon.] He says that he will take you with him, when he talks with Lord Stannis Baratheon. And he said--I might go too.

[Jon smiles, not a patronizing one, but an honest one]

I would like it if you did. Although you will not find him a friendly man, he is an honorable one.
